The peace community in San José Apartadó is situated in the heavily contested battle ground of Northern Colombia. The civil war is wrought over the distribution of land, resources and infrastructure for transportation. Civilians have been brutally subjected to conflicting power struggles and are most often helpless. Despite being the victim of countless massacres, the people of San José declared their neutrality in 1997. More than 180 members were murdered since the foundation of their community. The film depicts the complex situation facing the "comunidad de paz" as they struggle to uphold their neutrality and values of non-violence.
